The 56th OBOA AMTS in Sudbury is in the history books and will be remembered as another successful conference with "attention to detail". Congratulations to the organizing team!
As OBOA Vice President, I look forward to another year of supporting President Leo Cusumano, the OBOA Board and of course building officials. Mentoring with Leo is a prelude leading to OBOA President. Over the next year members can expect the OBOA Strategic Plan 2012+ to be front and centre as the path to growth and development of this Association. My role and responsibilities continue with Government Relations. As a big proponent of communication, members can expect to be kept informed of new changes that affect building officials and work together with others. The SB 12 Joint Industry Stake Holder Group is one example of partnering with others to achieve common goals.
As previously reported Ms. Kristi Kelly (non-Board member) is responsible and Chair of the OBOA Charity Fundraising. Kristi is no stranger to the Pink It Up fundraiser in support of breast cancer research and other non-profit charities. Pink it Up unofficially started in 2003 at the OBOA AMTS in Collingwood, in memory of one of our members, CBO Terry Dalkowski.
I look forward to participating on the Engineers, Architects and Building Officials (EABO) Committee.
EABO membership includes other professionals such as PEO, CEO, OAA and Building Officials (OBOA, TACBOC & LMCBO). John Dorris, Town of Milton (municipal employee) and I are the two OBOA representatives. John is an Architect and a veteran member at EABO meetings.
Since joining the OBOA Board in 2005 AMTS, one of my personal goals continues to be increasing and improving communication with membership and industry partners. Communication is one key component to a functional and professional organization and leading by example is my objective.
