Leading the New Workplace

This full day session will provide OBOA members with appreciation for the changes being experienced in the post-COVID workplace. Attendees will learn about, and have several opportunities to discuss, factors affecting the new workforce such as working style preferences, organizational structure changes, recruitment and retention challenges, as well as how to provide the workplace environment attractive to this new workforce.
The day will be broken into two key parts:
Session 1 – 9:00 a.m. – 12 noon
This morning session will kick off with a networking activity, followed by keynote speaker, Shona Welsh, Leadership Professional and Facilitator with Mohawk College Enterprise.
Shona has been helping organizations develop leaders and enhance their communications for three decades.
As a former senior executive, CEO, and board chair, she has supported numerous leaders in adjusting to ever-changing workplace realities, including leading through numerous mergers/acquisitions, crisis situations, and department and organizational re-engineering. An award-winning speaker, writer and instructional designer, Shona is the author of six books on training, mentoring, communications, and engagement. Her mentoring programs are now used by clients across the globe.
With Mohawk College Enterprise (MCE) Shona excels in facilitating leadership programs resulting in amazing client feedback. Her warmth, coupled with the stories she tells, engages and encourages all participants.
A Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL), Certified Chief Innovation Officer (CCInO), and Certified Executive Presence Facilitator (CEXPi), Shona’s work around the globe with corporate, government, and not-for-profit sectors have given her in-depth insight into the challenges facing modern leaders. Her key areas of focus are: change leadership, innovation, leadership development, and speaking and communications. She is in demand as an engaging facilitator and keynote speaker, leveraging her diverse experiences to add value and insights to her clients.
Session 2 – 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
This afternoon session will feature a panel of experts – presentation and discussion facilitated by the keynote speaker – presenting and discussing real-world experience – challenges and opportunities associated with ‘Leading the New Workforce’. This panel will speak to the following challenges and opportunities – reducing burnout, hybrid working models, psychologically safe workplaces, and diversity, equity, and inclusion supports.
