Public Consultation on Proposed Amendments to the Fire Code

Where

, ,

When

Wednesday, November 21 - All Day

On behalf of the Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management (OFMEM), I would like to invite you to comment on proposed changes to the Fire Code that will apply to floor areas, or portions of floor areas, containing hazardous extraction operations. In farm buildings, the requirements will apply where hazardous extraction operations specifically pertain to cannabis processing.

These proposed changes were supported in principle by a Technical Advisory Committee (TAC), comprised of various stakeholder groups that was convened by the OFMEM in response to cannabis legalization. The TAC included representation from fire services, the cannabis industry, various government ministries and safety authorities.

The proposed Fire Code changes are posted on the Ontario Regulatory Registry for public comment.

The deadline for submitting comments is November 21, 2018.

Your participation is important and encouraged, as feedback will help guide changes to the Fire Code. Please make a submission through the Regulatory Registry, should you have any comments on the proposed changes.
