The OBOA fully supports the City of Barrie’s statement regarding the Ontario Building Code and recognizes the ongoing excellent work of their building department.

We are in full agreement that we must continue to work with the Provincial government to make consistent updates to the Ontario Building Code to mitigate future incidents and make buildings safer. By no means should we discount the valuable work of the entire building industry, including designers, engineers, building and code officials, who can work together to make improvements on the future design of Ontario’s buildings.

Along with building officials from across the province, we were devastated to hear about the damage to homes caused by the recent tornado. We wish the residents of Barrie a quick recovery, so they are back in the safety of their homes very soon.
