ESA Consultation on Proposed Changes to the Ontario Electrical Safety Code

ESA is seeking the views of stakeholders on proposed amendments to the Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC).  ESA is holding a public consultations on the proposed changes in Ontario amendments to the Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC) from Tuesday March 6 to Friday April 20 2018.  The full list of proposed amendments and instructions on how to submit feedback can be found on the ESA website at www.esasafe.com/consultations

It is anticipated that proposed changes, should they be accepted, will be adopted into the OESC in Fall/Winter 2018, with enforcement of any amended or new rules planned for May 2019.

Of particular interest to your industry may be, among others, the following proposals:

  • Increased AFCI requirements in dwelling units
  • Additional requirements for Plan Review of energy storage installations and of standby generation that supports life safety loads
