The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing is initiating consultations on a proposed change to the Building Code to expand the permitted use of cellular core polyvinyl chloride Drain-Waste-Vent pipe (PVC pipe) to all residential combustible buildings. Currently, Division B, Article 7.2.5.16. of the Building Code permits the use of cellular core PVC pipe only in residential buildings containing one or two dwelling units or row houses up to three storeys.
