Ontario CodeNews Issue 380: Amendments to Ontario's 2024 Building Code

The Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing has made an administrative amendment to Ontario's 2024 Building Code to streamline approvals and support development within Downtown Brampton.

This amendment will help enable construction of two City-identified development projects to proceed concurrently with the Brampton Riverwalk flood protection infrastructure.

To protect public health and safety, the Building Code amendment will prevent the occupancy of new permanent buildings on the Centre for Innovation and Heritage Theatre and Southern Block sites until the flood protection infrastructure is complete, and the associated flood risk has been addressed. 

These changes are now included in an updated Ontario Amendment Document, which serves as the official legal document that contains the above changes. The changes are highlighted with a yellow background.
