Corrine Nauta

Chief Building Official, Manager, Building Services The Corporation of the County of Lambton
My career began in 1995 with the Ministry (MOEE) and in 2004, I was elected to Municipal Council and during that time, I witnessed the remarkable work in this Department and pursued the CBO opportunity. For me, it was in an ideal position as I was still able to participate in Municipal Councils/Committees and serve the public.
There are challenges and opportunities in every occupation. As CBO, I am very fortunate to have family, friends, colleagues and incredible staff that both cheer me on and provide perspective when needed. Our Southwestern Chapter has also played an instrumental role in my career, due to the network of expertise.
My advice to anyone considering this as a career – go for it. It is an ever changing environment and learning experience – take advantage of that. Treat obstacles as opportunities and always remember to be collaborative and not competitive. Give it your all, and you will find the passion too.
